SPY - 2012 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Cabriolet

After a long break, photographers have managed to capture on tape a 2012 SLS AMG prototype with its roof down. The open-top supercar from Affalterbach will be revealed at next year's IAA in Frankfurt, so we're still pretty much away from the moment we'll see the new cabriolet "naked", although the test cars are barely disguised. The convertible variant of the new Gullwing will make use of a soft top, in order to keep things light, as well as to remind everyone of the legendary 300 SL Roadster from the 50s. The engine will be the same as in the case of the coupe version - a 6.2 liters naturally-aspirated V8 unit, pumping out a staggering 571 BHP of peak output.

Check out one extra spy photo after the jump!
