* 50 select new products, specially aimed at truck drivers
* “Safety and Technology”: robust workwear
* “Freedom and Emotion”: dressed for the long trek
* “Practicality and Mobility”: accessories on the move
Useful and practical, stylish and comfortable: the newly designated Trucker Selection from Mercedes-Benz features 50 products which are specifically aimed at truck drivers. The functional items help make for a smoother working day, and the products have a look and a user-friendly design which will appeal to long-distance drivers. The range embodies the “Trucker” attitude and features outstanding design – and all items of clothing and accessories are infused with a quality of material and craftsmanship which reflect the brand values of Mercedes-Benz. The product range is divided into three segments: “Safety and Technology”, “Freedom and Emotion”, and “Practicality and Mobility”.
“Safety and Technology”: robust workwear
The “Safety and Technology” product line features robust materials in anthracite with light-reflecting elements and a metallic/high-tech look. It comprises nine items of clothing for the working environment, however tough the conditions.
The parka, with its detachable lined hood and numerous pockets, provides ideal protection against the elements, while the reflective piping increases safety in traffic. The practical two-in-one jacket is ideal all year round. The outer jacket can be worn on its own as a windcheater and also features reflective piping. The warm inner jacket in made from fleece. The practical driver’s gilet has a fleece lining plus numerous outside and inside pockets and – like the jackets – reflective piping, which also features on the driver’s bomber jacket. The sweat jacket, in french terry with lined hood and pouch pockets, is ideal for the colder months. The robust zip-off trousers, made from polyamide, are perfect for truck-related work and loading. The lower quarter of the trousers can be zipped off and the numerous pockets will hold a variety of work tools. The new caps are designed to keep the head warm and look stylish too. Whether the design cap, the trucker cap or the winter hat, this special selection ensures the Mercedes-Benz driver is ideally equipped for any weather and occasion.
“Freedom and Emotion”: dressed for the long trek
Leather, flannel and warm, brown shades are characteristic features of the “Freedom and Emotion” segment. The trucker gilet in dark brown leather with practical press-studs and inside pockets oozes a feeling of freedom and aplomb. As does the checked and lightly padded lumberjack shirt, which can comfortably be worn without a jacket on warmer days. The dark brown T-shirt, printed with the word “Trucker”, has already achieved cult status. It is available in a men’s version, in a slightly fitted women’s version and in children’s sizes for the self-confessed next generation of truckers. Inside every true trucker is an adventurer – and the perfect adventurer’s hat is available in the Trucker Selection. The fabric hat features a headband and a leather “Trucker” patch. The practical duffel bag offers the ideal place to pack a small amount of luggage for the trip. It has a capacity of 35 litres and is made from robust polyester. For special occasions there’s a special belt buckle, available in a limited edition of 999. A matching leather key ring with decorative studs and a leather wallet with chain and snap hook are also available.
“Practicality and Mobility”: accessories on the move
Helpful items for the journey, accessories that make life easier and more enjoyable, little gifts for family and friends – all of these can be found in the “Practicality and Mobility” segment. The fob watch has a snap hook for attaching to a belt loop. The case is made from diecast zinc and it has a sprung lid. If you’re on the road at unusual times of day, you’ll appreciate an unusual watch: the 24-hour watch shows the whole day at a glance. Or how about a classic navigation device for your wrist? The compass watch shows you both the time and the way. And to help ensure you’re punctual there’s a travel alarm. The case opens at the touch of a button.
Work gloves are always useful, and the work gloves in the Trucker Selection are the only ones to feature a star logo. A torch is ideal when it’s dark, and the Trucker Selection torch, with its 24 LEDs, is particularly bright. Batteries are included.
What about that annoying situation, however, when you turn on your torch only to discover that the batteries have run out? Help is at hand in the form of the rechargeable torch with dynamo which stores energy. If you need both hands when working in the dark, you’ll appreciate the head light. The star-branded light features eight very bright LEDs and has three brightness settings. The batteries supplied provide 150 hours of light.
To help keep your keys in order, there’s a key ring, which features a snap hook for attaching to a belt loop. Separate rings hold the individual keys and ensure a clear overview. If you prefer to wear your keys around your neck, there’s also a lanyard. It features a safety clasp and a detachable key section.
Where would a truck driver be without a thermos flask for warm refreshments? The star-branded thermos flask comes with two cups and has an automatic spout – helping to prevent any spillages in the cab. It has a capacity of 0.75 litres. Whatever you need it for – whether cigarettes or anything else – the storm lighter functions even in inhospitable conditions. It is made from metal and rubber. Or how about a genuine Zippo? The cult lighter is available from Mercedes-Benz with “Trucker” lettering.
A pocket knife is another handy accessory. The knife in the Trucker Selection has stainless steel casing and sits well in the hand. The robust blade is also made from stainless steel. To make sure you don’t lose the knife, it features a robust chain and snap hook. Several other items can have a tendency to go missing when you’re on the move: loose sunglasses, keys or coins can quickly slide out of view in the cockpit. The Magic Pad holds these and other items firmly in place.
Left your toothbrush at home? Forgotten your nail file or even your razor? The travel set is the perfect solution. A men’s and a women’s version are available, the women’s version featuring make-up essentials instead of the razor. When you’re visiting for the shower room in the service station you’ll appreciate the flip flops – with “Trucker” lettering, for the true truck driver.
The range also includes accessories that truckers will appreciate in their limited free time. For example the robust leather belt with studs. Or the fleece picnic blanket with water-repellent underside, ideal for a relaxing break in the countryside.
If the weather is unsettled, the umbrella is ideal. And if there’s DIY to do – whether repairs on board or some smaller task – a fully furnished tool kit is perfect for the driver and amateur mechanic. It includes a ratchet screwdriver, bits, spanner sockets with adapters and a set of screws.
Everyone, from the driver to the next generation of young truckers, loves Knut Knuddel the polar bear. He’s available as a key ring, with a suction pad for the window or simply as a soft toy in two sizes. The pencil case, printed with a large truck motif, and the matching children’s rucksack, on the other hand, are clearly aimed at tomorrow’s drivers. If you want to keep track of the time at home, there’s a design wall clock with analogue quartz movement plus integral thermometer and hygrometer. The refined case is made from brushed aluminium.
Finally, no one should be parted from their truck when the working day is over. Models of the new Actros MP3 are available in two scales. The scale 1:87 models include a 3-axle tipper in silver and a concrete mixer in blue. And road vehicles are available in the form of a solo tractor in red and silver, a semitrailer in white and the “Branchen-Informations-Center” (Edition 6) special model in silver. The scale 1:50 models are a 3-axle tipper construction vehicle in grey, a solo tractor in red and a tractor with semitrailer in silver.
The new Trucker Selection products will be available from all Mercedes-Benz partners from September.
