The qualifying round that took place yesterday on the Yas Marina Circuit proved to be quite fruitful for the MERCEDES GP PETRONAS team. Both drivers made use of the improved racing potential of the W01 car and managed to deliver some impressive results in the Q1 and Q2 sessions. However, Michael and Nico found it hard to match the previous fast pace, as they went out to tackle the Q3 on option tyres. The German world champion struggled and finished the qualifyings on P8, ahead of his countryman, who ended the stage on P9.
