On 10 August 2011, the “Stuttgarter Sternstunden” will kick off in the capital of Baden-Württemberg with a diverse program. The event, which includes open-air concerts, trend talks with celebrity guests, a family day packed with motorsport, and other highlights is Mercedes-Benz’s way of thanking the public for its loyal support for the past 125 years. The heart of the action during the Stuttgarter Sternstunden will be at the mb! lounge at Schlossplatz. The 1,500 square metre lounge will feature free workshops for children and young people along with three hosted trend talks. Mercedes-Benz experts will speak with celebrities about motivation, sustainability, design, future mobility concepts and motor sports.
Trend talk: “explore!”
“The impossible exists only until we find a way to make it possible” is the guiding credo of South African explorer and PANGAEA expedition leader Mike Horn, who has travelled to the earth’s most remote locations over two decades. During the “explore!” trend talk (mb! lounge, Friday, 12 August 2011, 7:30 pm) he will speak with German national soccer coach Joachim Löw and Anders Sundt Jensen, head of brand communications for Mercedes-Benz Cars, about having the courage to break away, the pioneering spirit and sustainability. The trend talk guests will also talk about their personal experiences in extreme situations and day-to-day challenges.
Trend talk: “style!”
During the “style!” trend talk (mb! lounge, Saturday, 12 August 2011, 8:00 pm), host Tanja Bülter will moderate a discussion with fashion designer Dorothee Schumacher, fashion blogger Mary Scherpe and Holger Hutzenlaub, head of Mercedes-Benz Advanced Design Japan. They will discuss in detail the topics of design, modern shaping and trends – including how trends are shaped by demographic and social developments and what effect changing values will have on the future. Ultimately, this is what designers and creative minds face in many areas, including in the automotive industry and the fashion world. They will also discuss what constitutes trends, what influential factors play a role, where new trends originate and how to identify them early on.
Trend talk: “drive & motorsports!”
On Sunday, 14 August 2011 at 11:00 am, Formula One star Nico Rosberg, Mercedes-Benz motorsport president Norbert Haug and Daimler Management Board member Dr. Thomas Weber will visit the mb! lounge. In their 90-minute discussion, they will present new mobility concepts, alternative transport ideas for today's up-and-coming megacities and technologies that will transform the future of mobility. They will also talk about our fascination with motor sports and the impact of the new FIA guidelines on vehicle development.
Tickets for the trend talks can be purchased at www.stuttgarter-sternstunden.de . If more than the maximum of 125 applicants register for one trend talk, tickets will decided by draw.
