ARCHIVE:Setra Attains Record Market Share in Turkey

OFFICIAL PRESS RELEASE

• Setra to boost market share from six to ten percent by the end of 2008
• More than 100 vehicles will be sold this year
• Major Turkish bus-customer purchases 14 Setra ComfortClass 400

Ulm/Stuttgart, Germany, Aug 13, 2008 - Setra Buses, a Daimler AG brand, will attain a record-setting market share of nearly ten percent in Turkey this year. By selling more than 100 units in 2008, Setra will significantly exceed its average six percent market share of the last few years. The unit sales figure includes 30 double-decker S 431 DT touring coaches. This 13.9 m long coach with 78 seats in a four-star layout is a cost-effective alternative for many operators in view of high diesel fuel prices.

Setra Buses has sold more than 450 units in Turkey since the market launch of the TopClass 400 premium model series in 2002. The top-selling model on the Turkish market is the three-axle Setra S 417 HDH, which despite fierce competition from local competitors has won over customers with its technical robustness, diverse safety features, and outstanding passenger comfort.

Meanwhile, Setra ComfortClass 400 buses are celebrating their Turkish debut. The private bus company Varan Turizm Seyahat A.S was the first customer in Turkey to place an order for the series, and has now purchased 14 Setra S 416 GT-HD/2 models. The ComfortClass 400 series will be used mostly for long-distance journeys in Turkey.
Setra has been offering comfortable travel coaches in Turkey for 24 years now, whereby most of the brand’s buses are used on long-distance routes. Other major customers for Setra in Turkey include Metro in Istanbul, Özkaymak in Konya, Kamil Koc in Bursa, and Pamukkale in Izmir.
