Although the current generation does not feature a sports version in the lineup, it is fairly possible that the future GL-Klasse could be spawned in an AMG variant, too. Clear indications come from the latest spy photos that emerged on the internet, and nonetheless, from the fact that Mercedes-Benz engineers have already started the testing phase for the new GL-Klasse 'X 166'(see first prototypes >> HERE);while in the USA, photographers snapped a test mule, based on the current model and fitted with larger front air intakes and AMG wheels, which appears to be used for developing the new GL 63 AMG, to hit streets in 2013 along with the second generation of the large Mercedes-Benz SUV. As in the case of its little brother ML 63 AMG, this new GL version will be powered by the 544 BHP biturbo V8 engine.
