From 27 to 29 August, the Mercedes-Benz Museum will be staging a special exhibition to celebrate the unique super sports car tradition of the three-pointed star. “Super sports cars symbolise fascination and perfection,” says Michael Bock, Director of the Mercedes-Benz Museum and Head of Mercedes-Benz Classic.


Alongside the current Mercedes Benz SLS AMG, the exhibits include the Mercedes 75PS from 1906, the legendary Mercedes-Benz 300SL from 1954, the SSK from 1928, the C111 concept car from 1969, the Mercedes-Benz C112 from 1991, the CLK GTR from 1998 and the Mercedes-Benz Vision SLR from 1999.

On Tuesday 20 April, Nick Heidfeld performed several laps of the Mercedes test track at the Untertürckheim factory, taking the Mercedes-Benz C111 II-D from 1976 out for a run. As well as Heidfeld, there were five other star drivers putting the historic gems through their paces.

Bernd Schneider drove a Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG from 2010, Jochen Mass a Mercedes-Simplex 40PS from 1902 and Roland Asch a Mercedes-Benz SSK from 1929. Hans Herrmann took the wheel of a Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR Coupé vintage 1955 while Dieter Glemser piloted a Mercedes-Benz CLK-GTR Roadster from the year 2002.

The special super sports car exhibition forms part of the regular guided tours and is open daily (except Mondays) from 9am to 6pm. Admission is included in the standard museum ticket price.
