World Debut at the 2011 IAA Frankfurt: The BRABUS Sport Program for the New C-Class

The Mercedes C-Class continues its success in revised form and BRABUS offers an exclusive sport program for all body styles of the facelift generation of the 204 series. Highlights in the product lineup are performance kits for all diesel and gasoline engines, a dynamic-elegant aerodynamic-enhancement program, BRABUS Monoblock wheels with diameters of up to 20 inches with suspensions specifically calibrated to these wheels, and custom interior options.

The BRABUS design team also went into the wind tunnel to develop body components that are visually appealing and more importantly offer maximum aerodynamic efficiency. All components are manufactured in OEM quality from high-grade PUR-Rim plastics or from especially lightweight clear-coated carbon fber.

The sportily styled BRABUS front spoiler is designed to attach to the production front fascia. It lends all C-Class body styles a more striking front end while minimizing lift on the front axle at high speeds for further improved directional stability.

The strikingly styled BRABUS side skirts create an optimal aerodynamic transition between the wheel wells on wagon and sedan. These body components are also available with integrated LED entrance lights.

For the sedan BRABUS offers a three-piece rear spoiler, optionally available in a distinctly sporty clear-coated-carbon-fber version, and the BRABUS rear fascia. It distinguishes itself with a centrally mounted reflector and above all with the two custom-tailored cutouts left and right for the four tailpipes of the BRABUS sport exhaust system.

Custom-tailored BRABUS Monoblock wheels in various designs and with diameters of 17, 18, 19 and 20 inches provide a visual and handling upgrade for the new Mercedes C-Class. The high-performance tires selected in extensive test drives come from technology partners Continental, Pirelli and YOKOHAMA.

The largest version features Monoblock F cross-spoke wheels in size 8.5Jx20 in front with size 235/30 ZR 20 tires and 9.5Jx20 wheels with size 265/25 ZR 20 tires on the rear axle.

In cooperation with technology partner BILSTEIN the BRABUS suspension engineers and test drivers developed sporty-comfortable lowering kits and sports suspensions including a coilover suspension with adjustable ride height and damper rates. All suspensions are calibrated to the use with sporty low-profile tires.

BRABUS high-performance brake systems, available for the W 204 model series in two versions, provide maximum stopping power and endurance beyond reproach.

With more than 140 PowerXtra performance kits for diesel and gasoline direct-injection engines and a wide range of high-capacity engines for the various Mercedes engines BRABUS offers the world’s largest engine tuning program for Mercedes-Benz automobiles. All tuning components and conversions are backed by the one-of-a-kind BRABUS Tuning Warranty® of three years, up to 100,000 kilometers / 62,000 miles (see BRABUS warranty conditions, updated November 2006).

This unique know-how is also behind the performance kits for the revised C-Class. For gasoline models the program starts with the BRABUS PowerXtra CGI B 18 performance kit, which boost power output of the C 180 BlueEFFICIENCY by 26 hp / 19.1 kW. The tuning consists of the plug-and-play PowerXtra auxiliary control unit that can be installed in less than an hour. The B18 S version, which additionally includes a larger intercooler and an electronically controlled BRABUS wastegate, offers an increase in power by 41 hp and an increase in torque from 250 to 305 Nm (184 to 225 lb-ft).

The BRABUS PowerXtra CGI performance kits B20 and B20 S for the Mercedes C 200 BlueEFFICIENCY also generate an increase in power output by 26 and 41 hp respectively.

Two BRABUS power options named B25 and B25 S are available for the largest four-cylinder model, the C 250 BlueEFFICIENCY, as well. In its most powerful incarnation the performance kit results in a rated power output of 240 hp ( bhp) / 176 kW at 5,500 rpm and a peak torque of 370 Nm (273 lb-ft), available on a plateau between 2,000 and 4,300 rpm. The tuned C-Class sedan sprints to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 7.1 seconds, besting its non-tuned brethren by 0.7 seconds. A top speed of 248 km/h (154 mph) represents an increase by 10 km/h (6 mph) over the production car.

BRABUS also offers two performance kits for the top-of-the-line V8 model of the Mercedes C-Class, the C 63 AMG. The high-end solution for the fast-revving engine of the Mercedes C 63 AMG is the B63 S performance kit developed by the BRABUS engineers. It consists of free-flow high-performance catalysts, performance air filters and newly programmed engine electronics with custom mapping for ignition and injection. This ensemble results in a power increase from standard 457 hp (450 bhp) / 336 kW to 530 hp (522 bhp) / 390 kW. Simultaneously peak torque grows from 600 Nm to 650 Nm (442 to 479 lb-ft).

The conversion also includes the BRABUS Vmax unit, which is available in two versions for top speeds of 300 km/h (186 mph) or 315 km/h (195 mph). Acceleration prowess also benefits from the performance increase; the sprint to 100 km/h (62 mph) is shortened from 4.5 to 4.1 seconds. 200 km/h (124 mph) is reached after only 13.1 seconds compared to 14.5 seconds for the production car.

For the CDI turbodiesel models of the new C-Class BRABUS offers its ECO PowerXtra performance kits. The product lineup starts with the D2 (IV) module that increases power output of the C 200 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY by 30 hp (29 bhp) / 22 kW and bumps peak torque to 385 Nm (284 lb-ft).

The most powerful option for the C 220 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY is BRABUS D3 S tuning. It increases power output to 220 hp (217 bhp) / 162 kW and torque to 480 Nm (354 lb-ft). In the S version the performance kit consists of the ECO PowerXtra module and a special injector drive module.

For the top-of-the-line turbodiesel model of the C-Class, the C 350 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY, BRABUS offers the D6 S performance kit. An extra 48 hp (47 bhp) / 35.3 kW of power translate into a rated power output of 313 hp (308 bhp) / 230 kW. In combination with the increase in peak torque to 690 Nm (509 lb-ft) the added power transforms the new C-Class into one of the sportiest diesel models on the market: 0 – 100 km/h (62 mph) in 5.7 seconds and a top speed of 250 km/h (155 mph) speak for themselves.

BRABUS stainless-steel quad sport exhaust systems are available for all engine types and not only provide striking looks but above all also a more thrilling exhaust note.

BRABUS also has an excellent reputation around the world for its interior design. For the new C-Class the company upholstery shop masterfully handcrafts exclusive interiors from BRABUS Mastik leather and Alcantara.

The BRABUS program also features a wide range of custom accessories for the cockpit. The lineup includes an ergonomically shaped sports steering wheel, aluminum pedals, speedometer with 330-km/h (206-mph) dial, stainless-steel scuff plates with backlit BRABUS logo as well as wood and carbon-fiber trim in any desired color.
