British F1 Grand Prix 2011: Further Friday Photos (MGP)

The first day spent on the fast lanes of the Silverstone circuit was dominated by a lot of uncertitude and very few timed stints, as the downpour that hit the region during the morning has practically flooded the entire track surface, making it impossible for the drivers and their teams to get an accurate reading of the set-up they prepared. After the previous decision to ban the change of the engine mapping between the qualifying round and the race, the interdiction regarding the use of hot-blown diffusers got underway beginning with the British Grand Prix. To counteract the new regulations, the majority came with important updates designed to keep the car's overall performance unaffected. In wash-out or mixed, both Silver Arrows performed well, which enabled the drivers to set fast timed laps during the two practice sessions. While Michael finished FP1 in second position, after FP2 it was Nico's turn to grab the same place.
